K.K. Dairy Poultry and Fisheries were established in 1998 and the original plan was to produce fish, Husbandry of the Cattle, Broiler & Layer Poultry. During the fish cultural period, company has fallen a quality fish fry problem. To get rid of this fish fry problem and for more fish production the venture of Meridian Hatchery began in 2009.
K.K. Dairy, Poultry, Fisheries & Meridian Hatchery Ltd. are concerns of Meridian Group. It is a multidimensional Fish grower farms, Sex reversal (mono sex) Tilapia Fry & Induced breeding of different types of Cat fishes, Anabas & Carp fishes that stretches 84 acres area. The Fish grower farm is located at Muhury Project under Mirsarai Upazila in Chittagong District and Hatchery is located at Muhury Project under Feni District.
The company has started its fish grower farms in 1998 and has been producing high quality of Mono sex Tilapia fry supplying the Bangladeshi fish farming industry since 2009. Utilizing a process of egg collection, incubation and sex reversal of swim-up fry in Hapas for 21-28 days, using methyl testosterone-impregnated feed under supervision of Technical Expert who has been trained by the Asian institute of technology (AIT) Bangkok, Thailand which is one of the inventive organization of mono sex Tilapia. In the meantime, the response from Bangladeshi fish farmers was overwhelming to a great extent that now it is producing up to 50 million 1 inch mono-sex fry per year and induced breeding of Pangasius & Carps fry, quantity of 10 million covering an area of 24 acres and the annual production of fish is almost 520 MT from grower farms which covers an area of 60 acres. For doing this 80 employees are engaged.
In respect of quality Fry production, our institution achieved “National Fisheries Award -2011” and “Women Entrepreneur-2005” (Mrs. Kohinoor Kamal) in the field of Fish production. Our organization is not just a Fish and Fry production rather it is a training center for the students of Bangladesh. Internship and research program are run by for the students of Dhaka University, Chittagong University and Khulna University over the years. Many Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) have been driven many training program at our project. All of them are getting benefited with our project.
Henceforth, transferring the technology & ensuring bio-security, sometimes we arrange training program for the fish farmer & provide the technical support during the culture period for better yield.

Now we are doing fish culture by applying Intensive Methods of Tilapia Mono sex, Pangasius & Carp fishes. We have a future plan to produce the following:

Farms Location : It is core nucleus, which presently consists of the Fish Grow out farm is located in Mirsarai Upazila under Chittagong District approximately 90 km away from Chittagong Town and 30 km away from Feni Town.
Tilapia Sex Reversal, Induced Breeding of different types of Fish, a brood-stock development Chamber farm and the nursery/sales farm is located in Sonagazi Upazila under Feni District which is approximately 30 km away from Feni Town and 90 km away from Chittagong Town.
K.K. Dairy, Poultry, Fisheries and Meridian Hatchery have a vision turned reality. A multi-dimensional fisheries and agricultural project that stretches over 100 acres of land with 70 ponds used as fish Production, 5 ponds used as fry nursing, 4 Ponds used for Brood stock Hapa, 6 Ponds used for new brood rearing, 2ponds for Sex Reversal Tilapia & 2 ponds used for saleable fish fry Nursing. On the other hand 4 ponds used for Pangasius, Carp and other broods fish rearing and 4 ponds used for Larval Rearing. The Grow out farm consists of 75 ponds & hatchery consists of 22 ponds.
There are 321 Coconut Trees, 465 Mango (Amropalee) Trees, 50 Guava Trees, 510 seasonal Papaya plantations, 360 Betel-nut and other local trees. Among the 100 acres area 60 acres are being used for Regular Cultivation, 24 acres are being used for the operation of hatchery & rest of portion are also being used for horticulture.

There is no packing charge for fry purchased at the farm gate unless the fish are packed in foam boxes for air freight. Most of the customers collect their fish in pick-up based trucks, which can carry 100 – 400 bags (size: 26 X16 inch) depending on the height of the pick-up. There are two sizes of bag is used, a large one (size: 30 X 20 inch) during the time of transportation 2 hours to 20 hours and a smaller bag for local sales. 1” fish are packed at 500 to 800 pieces per box with an extra 5% to cover mortality. Most of the customers pay in cash, but some customers transfer their money for transaction and bring the pay slip to collect the fish fry.
Customers who do not have transports, we manage a local hauler to deliver fish to the desired customers. In this case, the cost of transportation should be paid by the customers to the hauler directly. Henceforth, here an alternative way buying fry from a Meridian Hatchery agent. Our sales staff will provide contact details of the nearest agent in your area on request.
Payment
All fish, Fish fry purchased at the farm gate must be paid for immediately on receiving the goods. The following options are available for payment:
- Cash at Project /Head office
- Transfer money - please contact the sales department for the bank account details which is suitable for you and inform our staff that you intend to transfer money prior to picking up your goods.

Export sale
Payment for all goods must be made in advance of dispatch and the following options are available:
- Transfer money – the account details are printed at the bottom of the invoice. It would be helpful if you could inform us when and how much money has been transferred so that we can identify where the money appearing in the account has come from.
- Pay by Letter of credit (L/C)
