Corporate Social Responsibility of Meridian Agro Industries Ltd.

We are a purpose led organisation, committed to making a difference in the communities that our customers and workers call home. Meridian CSR is the deliberate inclusion of community wellbeing into all our decision making.

We are guided by our values and a deep sense of responsibility in dealing with all our stakeholders, employees, customers, partners and the environment. We are a driver of positive change and strive to leave the world better than we found it. This core value translates to a diverse range of social responsibility goals and initiatives in increasing social equity by empowering women, humanitarian work, programs in health and education. Our priority is that our workers and associates will lead fulfilling lives.

Eye Campaign

The beneficiaries of our Health Treatment Program are workers and any local villager. Every 2 years, we organize a campaign that brings dedicated teams of highly skilled eye doctors from around the country to provide health services for anyone who needs it. The ‘Eye Campaign’ is facilitated by our Managing Director who is a lifetime partner of the Lions International Eye Foundation and part of a longstanding partnership between Meridian Group and Lions International Eye Foundation.

Relief Fund

Bandarban has a volatile climate and has been affected natural disasters, especially yearly flooding. Meridian Agro has a Relief Fund to reach workers during times of crisis and distribute relief.

Development of rural Women

We are situated in Bandar ban where the surrounding communities live under the poverty line and face unemployment. We provide a livelihood by focusing on the underprivileged, but deserving woman. 45% of the 250 workers on site are female. We strive to foster a workplace environment that and focus on their overall development of rural women.

Tribal Employment

Another aspect that we get to focus on due to our location is ensuring employment for the tribal people of Bandarban. Chakma, Tripura and Burma, Rakhain are the ethnic tribes represented in the area. These communities are historically overlooked and disadvantaged; however, 60% of our on site workforce are people from these tribes. Our golden standard is the standard that improves their financial and social condition.

Rural Education Program

Enriching lives requires a holistic approach. Bettering the workers is only a part of this approach. We provide free school supplies for the education of the children of our workers; the whole family unit is strengthened by being a part of the Meridian family. We have also introduced a scholarship program for children in our rural neighborhood who show potential and have merit.
